Bride's Gown![]() ![]() |
(as told by Jelise) My dress was the most beautiful dress in the world! The moment I saw it in the bridal store (13 months before the wedding) I knew it was the one. And every time I tried it on, I loved it even more. It was a simple, elegant Alfred Angelo design, and made me feel like a princess. It was ivory with short sleeves and a square neckline. It had an empire waist, with a fitted bodice and long flowing satin skirt. The top part was covered in pearls and beads, being just the right amount of accent for me. But my very favorite part was the back. Starting from about the middle of my back and going all the way down the entire church-length train were satin covered buttons. I felt like something from the Renessaince era. My veil and headpiece were very special, as well. They were a labor of love, made by my step-mom, Janet, and aunt Nancy. The headpiece was a crown of ivory, satin rosebuds and sprigs of pearls. I had a two-tiered, detachable, finger-tip length veil, edged in ribbon. But the coolest part was the small pearls that scattered the veiling. (as told by David) I knew about Jelise’s dress the moment that she got it (she called me and let me know!) Problem was, the only thing I knew about it was that she had found the dress she wanted and that I WAS NOT allowed to know anything about it or see it before the moment she walked down the aisle. For 13 months I was kept completely in the dark, as everyone talked about how beautiful the dress was, and showed pictures of it (to everyone but me!) I have to admit that the anticipation was getting to me and I grew more and more anxious as time went on. Having kept this big secret from me for 13 months, it almost met disastrous results the night before the wedding! Needing to drop some wedding decorations off with Jelise’s stepmom and aunt, I was invited into their hotel room. Out of the corner of my eye, I happened to see someone working on the train of Jelise’s dress. Before I could even fully focus on it, I had slammed my eyes closed, made a complete about face, and rushed out of the room! I had waited this long to see it, and didn’t want to ruin what was sure to be a wonderful surprise! Fast forward to the wedding day… There I am, standing at the altar, best man by my side, and all of my friends and family staring up at me. I stood and watched as all of the bride’s maids walked in, and started eagerly anticipating the arrival of my wife-to-be. The last of the bride’s maids made their way down the aisle and the doors to the chapel closed behind them. My heart began to race as I knew what was to come next (or at least I thought I knew!) When the doors opened again, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven!!! Standing before me was the most beautiful of God’s miracles that I had ever seen. I swear my heart actually stopped for a moment, and suddenly everything else seemed to disappear. My eyes locked with hers and followed her as she walked down the aisle. The rest of the story--well, you know how it ends! Oh yeah… the dress was absolutely gorgeous too!!! But hey, the woman makes the dress!!! |

The bridesmaids wore this classy, elegant dress, also from Alfred Angelo. And they looked fabulous!! Heather, our junior bridesmaid, wore a beautiful, pale yellow dress, which complimented the bridesmaid dresses. | Groomsmen![]() |
David and the groomsmen wore this dashing Perry Ellis tuxedo, with the purple vests to compliment the bridesmaid dresses. However, they chose the European button collars as opposed to ties. They were all very handsome! |
